smyrc.  Sexual & Gender Minority Youth Resource Center.   SMYRC provides a safe, supervised, harassment-free space for sexual and gender minority youth ages 13-23 who participate in positive activities like art, music, community organizing, open mic nights, drag shows, and support groups and receive services including case management, counseling, education, and more. With the goals of increasing academic success and access to jobs, reducing poverty and school drop-out, SMYRC honors, empowers, and supports LGBTQ youth to be their best selves and become leaders in their communities.

Q center.  Portland’s LGBTQ Community Center.  Q Center supports the self actualization and collective empowerment of LGBTQ2SIA+ people of all ages, races, genders and abilities. A convener and community hub, Q Center connects community members and organizations.

LGBTQ Alcoholism. The LGBTQ community is more impacted by alcoholism than most. Luckily, awareness is growing, as is the number of LGBTQ-specific treatment programs.

Mcminnville teen LGBTQ group.  Meets at the Mcminnville library every first and third Wednesday.  The Teen LGBT group is a safe place for local teens to write, do art & craft projects, hear guest speakers, discuss books & movies, and participate in other relaxing activities decided by the group in an accepting, supportive environment.

NWGA.  Northwest Gender Alliance.  The NWGA is a non-profit social, support and educational group. We welcome people from the whole gender spectrum. We hold monthly open meetings and sponsors a variety of transgender social functions throughout the year, and provide educational forums for public and private organizations or individuals interested in learning more about the transgender experience and the gender spectrum. Policy and Advocacy for Legislative Change:

Basic Rights Oregon.  http://www.basicrights.org.  Basic Rights Oregon will ensure that all lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer Oregonians experience equality by building a broad and inclusive politically powerful movement, shifting public opinion, and achieving policy victories.

Human Rights Campaign.  As the largest national lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer civil rights organization, HRC envisions a world where LGBTQ people are ensured of their basic equal rights, and can be open, honest and safe at home, at work and in the community.  www.hrc.org

GLAAD.  Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation.  GLAAD works through entertainment, news, and digital media to share stories from the LGBTQ community that accelerate acceptance.  glaad.org

National LGBTQ Task Force.  NGLTF is the national progressive organization working for the civil rights of gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgendered people, with the vision and commitment to building a powerful political movement.  Thetaskforce.org.

Oregon Safe Schools  http://www.oregonsafeschools.org supports community efforts to reduce youth suicide and other risk behaviors in the often hidden and historically underserved gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender youth population. Although the primary focus of OSSCC is sexual orientation and gender identity issues, we recognize the harm caused by harassment, violence, and discrimination of any kind.

Research:

The Family Acceptance Project is a research, intervention, education and policy initiative that works to prevent health and mental health risks for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) children and youth, including suicide, homelessness and HIV – in the context of their families, cultures and faith communities.
